The SPNL is centred around being a platform for young shipping professionals. In line with this, we appreciate that the young shipping professionals of tomorrow also need to be supported. To support these "professional in waiting" we have created SPNL prizes for top students as well as dedicating slots to students for our annual educational port visits.

The SPNL is proud to announce this year's " SPNL Graduation Award " to the top Plymouth University Student.

The ceremony was held at Plymouth University September 22rd in recognition of the top dissertation in the field of maritime-related business.

The accolade was awarded to Hui Ting Chong, BSc (Hons) Maritime Business & Maritime Law.

Plymouth University was admitted to "Maritime London" in 2013, serving as recognition of their contribution to – as well as being part of the "London Maritime Cluster". Since then, SPNL has initiated this award to support the "Young shipping professionals of tomorrow".

The SPNL Prize to the ICS student with the highest mark average achieved in London was awarded to Christopher Dodds, shipbroker from Clarksons Platou

The accolade was awarded to Zhiyang Xu, BSc (Hons) Maritime Business & Maritime Law.

The SPNL Prize to the ICS student with the highest mark average achieved in London was awarded to Jason Taylor, an aspiring shipbroker.

Our 2013 SPNL Prize winner - awarded to the ICS student with the highest mark average achieved in London was Jasmine Hou, an Operations Executive from Pacific Basin Shipping (UK) Limited.
Ms Jasmine Hou described the occasion as being her "greatest honour to receive the SPNL award".

The ceremony was held at Plymouth University September 15th in recognition of the top dissertation in the field of maritime-related business.
SPNL Chairman Claudio Chiste, awarded the accolade to Ms Fern Rogers, BSc (Hons) Maritime Business & Maritime Law for her dissertation on the topic of the UK Tonnage Tax.
Fern said " My dissertation involved collecting views and opinions regarding how experts within the shipping industry viewed the current taxation system and attending an SPNL event provided the perfect platform to network, gain vital contacts and to get a sense of the overall mood of the industry".
Fern recently secured a post with the West England P&I Club and will join their London offices in October.

The SPNL in the year 2012 for the first time, awarded an SPNL Prize to the student with the highest mark average achieved in London.

30 October 2012 SPNL announced the year's winner of the inaugural SPNL prize as Ms Vanessa Gilbert from ICAP Shiping. The SPNL prize will be awarded on an annual basis to the most successful first year candidate sitting in an examination in London.
