Dear Maritime Students,

Plymouth University’s shipping society PIMSSS and the South West branch of the Shipping Professional Network London SPNSW are excited to invite you to our maritime careers talk on Friday 11th March, 7pm at The Treasury in Plymouth. We are proud to host two maritime alumni from London giving a talk about their career so far, the markets they work in and their advice for current students. Dennis Atnaguzins of Galbraith’s Ltd will give us an insight from a dry cargo broker’s perspective in the ‘handies’ segment whilst Robin Maclean of ‘K Line Bulk Shipping’ will talk to us from an owner’s perspective with focus on the panamax segment. This will be followed by drinks and networking.

As part of the Plymouth University maritime field trip to Rotterdam and Antwerp, SPNSW and Plymouth University's shipping society will be hosting a networking event in association with their peer group, Young Ship Rotterdam. There will be a round of free drinks and snacks provided. YoungShip's Rotterdam branch has recently been launched as a network of young aspiring professionals with strong links to and support from Universities as well as the local industry.

We are delighted to invite you to the launch of the Shipping Professional Network in the South West (SPNSW) along with the inauguration event of the Plymouth International Shipping and Student Society (PIMSSS) on Friday, 27 February 2015. This event is kindly hosted by Plymouth University.

We are proud to have a talk by:

  • Claudio Chistè of Investec Bank plc and chairman of the Shipping Professional Network in London (SPNL) will give an overview on ship finance in 2015 and welcome SPN-SW into the "SPN Family".
  • Commander Jacqueline Sherriff MBE of the EU naval force concerning counter-piracy operations.

This will be followed by a chance to network with other attendees over food and drinks at The Marina Bar.
