SPNC organized their fifth event in partnership with the Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association on Tuesday 07 October 2014.
The SPNC event took place at the venue for Danish Maritime Fair in Bella Center and the highlight was the presence of two distinguished speakers and industry leaders in their respective fields
- Lars Jensen, CEO and partner at SeaIntel, presented ‘Managing cultural change in global shipping. Learnings from Maersk Line’. Maersk Line is the first container shipping line to have fully embraced the need for drastic evolution driven by changing business environment, and have completely reshaped their 100-year culture over the past 15 years. A closer look at the developments reveals a range of learning points. Lars Jensen’s latest publication will be available at the event at 30% discounted price.
- Niels Bjorn Mortensen, Director at Maersk Maritime Technology presented ‘Compliance and Enforcement – Prerequisites for a Level Playing Field’. Shipping will be hit by a tsunami of new and costly regulations within the next couple of years. History has shown that paperwork is not tamper-proof. With the large money at stake there is a growing concern that some owner may be tempted to cut corners and thereby create an economic advantage compared to those who will comply at any cost; a rigid enforcement scheme needs to be in place.
After these interesting and educational presentations there was ample time for discussions and interaction with the speakers as well as the usual socializing and networking with participants at SPNC event.
