Topic: “Shipping and Sustainability Financing: Panel Webinar”
Date: Thursday, 25 March 2021 from 13:00-14:00 (London local time)
Everyone in the shipping industry knows that it must transition to net zero. But with little consensus on how that transition should happen, the pressure for change is building very much from the financing side. Over twenty shipping banks (and counting) have signed up to the Poseidon Principles. And now, some shipowners have issued Sustainability Linked Bonds, setting themselves targets which, if they can meet them, will give them access to low cost financing from a new, deep and environmentally conscious investor base.
Two of these forward-thinking shipping companies, Seaspan and Odfjell, spoke about their journey to sustainability so far and all things net zero.
Panel speakers included:
- Terje Iversen, Chief Financial Officer, Odfjell Group
- Matthew Tinari, EVP Business Relations, Seaspan Corporation
- Lindsey Keeble, Partner and Global Co-Head of Maritime Sector, Watson Farley & Williams
Moderator: Vivek Srivastava, Shipping Industry Economist & Strategist
