Event #89 - Change and Disruption Management: A Legal Perspective - Hosted by Wikborg Rein LLP

About this event :

The topic of the evening’s conversation was “Expecting the Unexpected” in trading contracts, a subject of particular relevance given the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.

Our hosts were the international law firm Wikborg Rein. As befitted the venue, three lawyers spoke on various points relating to how provisions in shipping contracts might be interpreted, and how best to anticipate unforeseen ‘force majeure’ or ‘act of God’ events when drafting charterparties and sale agreements.

This was food for thought for the attendees who included representatives from all over the industry including Shell, Clarksons and Pareto shipbrokers, Wartsila, NYK Group, Siem Shipping and Vessels Value.

The three speakers were:

  • Anna Hoffman – 4 Pump Court
  • Fiona Whiteside – Twenty Essex
  • Eleanor Midwinter – Wikborg Rein

The event was chaired by Baptiste Weijburg, Partner from law firm Wikborg Rein LLP.

Networking drinks which followed the presentations were also provided by our hosts, Wikborg Rein LLP.
