Day 51 of 365 Today we introduce you to Patricia Schlotmann – thanks to the nomination from Isobel at the SPNL team… 🙂 I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Marburg University in Germany and immediately followed it up with a master’s degree. During my masters I began working in the shipping department of the accountancy firm Moore Stephens (now BDO LLP). I loved the industry and became an auditor specialising in shipping firms. On one of my early engagements, I was involved in the “COSTA CONCORDIA” case that Moore Stephens was working on at the time. Having the chance to view the wreck and the work/diving stations in person (see photo) was one of the highlights of my early career and further sparked my passion for the industry. I started to attend The Shipping Professional Network in London (SPNL) (@spnl_shipping) events because my firm was one of their partnership sponsors. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to their presentations on the maritime industry and networking with likeminded individuals. I was elected the deputy treasurer in 2017 and one year later I was elected as the first female Chairperson of the SPNL. I am proud to be part of such a thriving non-profit organisation and enjoy working together with other professionals within the industry to offer knowledge updates and a platform for networking with anyone keen to increase their awareness of what is currently driving the sector.
